Leigh knows these lanes well — L29 is right on the doorstep of Crosby, a short run through Little Crosby village or up Lydiate Lane.
L29 takes in Thornton village itself, Lydiate to the east, and the quiet hamlets around Little Crosby and Moor Lane. Housing here ranges from older stone-built cottages and farmhouses on the rural edges to the tidy brick semis and detacheds of the Thornton Lodge and Manor Farm estates. It's greener and more spread out than the coastal postcodes — bigger properties, longer drives, often a garage to empty too.
Lydiate has its own character: a mix of bungalows, 1970s closes, and the occasional equestrian property with serious outbuildings. If you're moving from one of the farm conversions near Gt Crosby Road, Leigh has done enough of those to know to bring the big van and extra blankets.
