Lancashire market town with tight streets in the centre and proper country lanes on the edges — Leigh is up from Crosby in 25 minutes and knows how to work these roads.
L39 spans a lot of ground — Ormskirk town centre with its medieval street pattern and tight Georgian and Victorian terraces, the affluent village of Aughton with its period cottages and larger rural properties, and Burscough to the north where the housing is more modern but the canal-side character makes it distinctive. The student population around Edge Hill University adds a seasonal dimension, with plenty of short-notice moves in September.
Aughton in particular has some fine period cottages and detacheds on Lane Head and Long Lane — moves from these properties need care and patience, not rushing. Leigh takes the time to do it properly.
