The Southport patch

PR9 covers Southport town centre, Churchtown to the north-east, and the northern end of Birkdale. It's a postcode of contrasts: wide Victorian boulevards and substantial semis around Hesketh Park giving way to seaside terraces closer to the promenade, and the leafy conservation streets of Churchtown with their older cottages and generous gardens.

Birkdale's northern end has some impressive detacheds and Edwardian villas — the kind of property where you've got a lot of rooms, a lot of furniture, and a tight driveway. Leigh has done plenty of those and knows to quote properly, not guess.

Access notes

• Lord Street and the town centre: loading restrictions apply on the main drag — side streets and short stops work fine; Leigh plans it so the van isn't holding up traffic.
• Churchtown's village core has narrow lanes and cars parked nose-to-tail; early morning starts make a real difference here.
• Seafront properties near the promenade can be exposed — Leigh brings furniture protection for anything that has to travel any distance in the open.
• Hesketh Park area: wide roads, good parking, no issues — the straightforward end of Southport moves.
